Turkish League, Season 2009-10
The Turkish League opens a new season with two main candidates to lift the trophy at the end of the 2009-10 season: Fenerbahce Ulker and Efes Pilsen. Both teams fought for the title last season in one of the best finals in the history of the competition. Defending champion Efes brought in Igor Rakocevic, Bostjan Nachbar and Daniel Santiago to a core of players that led the team to lift the trophy, including Kerem Tunceri, Sinan Guler, Ender Arslan, Kaya Peker, Charles Smith and Bootsy Thornton. Fenerbahce also keeps most of the roster it had in recent years with Omer Onan, Emir Preldzic, Willie Solomon, Gordan Giricek, Omer Asik, Semih Erden and Oguz Savas, but also added Lynn Greer to round out a deep and talented roster. Turk Telekom, Galatasaray Cafe Crown and Besiktas JK Cola Turka are able to put up a fight for the title, too. Galatasaray built a new roster with Darius Washington, Simas Jasaitis, Mike Wilkinson and Rado Rancik. Besiktas kept Mire Chatman and added Brad Newley and Lonny Baxter as its new scoring references. Meanwhile, Turk Telekom inked Demond Mallet, Andre Owens, Lamayne Wilson and Huseyin Besok. Pinar Karsiyaka, Antalya Buyuksehir, Aliaga Petkim and Kepez Bld Antalya also put together competitive rosters to fight for the remaining playoff spots. Expect the Turkish League to be as exciting as usual - and even better.
