Croatian League Semifinals, Game 2: May 28, 2007
Jure Lalic - Zadar Zadar became the first team to advance to the Croatian League title series by edging Zagreb 89-91 in Game 2 on Monday to sweep the best-of-three semifinal series. Rok Stipcevic became the game hero by hitting the game-winning shot with 1.1 seconds to go. Carl English led the winners with 34 points on 6-of-9 three-pointers. Juby Johnson added 16, Jure Lalic had 11 and Jakov Vladovic 10 for Zadar. Ante Tomic led Zagreb with 25 points while Josip Sesar added 14. Stipcevic put his team ahead, 85-89, already in the final 2 minutes, but Tomic helped Zagreb to tie the game, 89-89. It all came down to the final play, in which Stipcevic scored over Tomic to make Zadar advance to the finals. Meanwhile, Split stayed alive by downing Cibona 106-95 at home also on Monday. Series are tied but Cibona hosts Game 3 on Wednesday. Larry Ayuso paced the winners with 34 points on 16-of-16 free throws. Hrvoje Peric added 18 while Erick Barkley had 17 for Split. Chris Warren and Andrew Wisniewski each had 20 points for Cibona, Brent Wright added 18 and Barisa Krasic 11. Split led 54-34 at halftime and Cibona never recovered.
