Slovenian League semifinals, Game 2: May 19, 2007
Miha Zupan - Union Olimpija It will all come down to Game 3 in the Slovenian League semifinals! Zlatorog and Geoplin Slovan won their respective games at home against Helios Domzale and Union Olimpija and tied the best-of-three series. Helios and Olimpija are set to host Game 3 next week. Zlatorog tied the series at 1-1 by edging Helios 82-80 in Lasko on Saturday. Terry Williams led the winners with 22 points, Jack Ingram added 14 while Grega Mali had 11 for Zlatorog. Aljaz Janza had 20 points for Helios, Ziga Zagorc added 16, Aleksej Laskevic 12 and Sasa Doncic 11. Helios led 12-24 after 10 minutes, but a 19-3 run that Williams capped with a triple gave Zlatorog a 62-55 margin late in the third quarter. The game went down to the wire, as Robert Troha brought Helios within 81-79. A free throw by Williams with 11 seconds to go and a tactic foul sealed the outcome and allowed Zlatorog to stay alive. Meanwhile, Slovan downed Olimpija 81-71 in Ljubljana also on Saturday. Ernest Novak paced the winners with 25 points, Gasper Vidmar added 15 and Davor Marcelic 13. Miha Zupan had 27 points for Olimpija while Domen Lorbek added 10. Olimpija led 11-22 but a 13-1 run brought Slovan back into the game. Slovan boosted its lead to 61-45 late in the third quarter and even when Olimpija got within 72-65, it never managed to complete its rally.
