2006-07 CROATIAN LEAGUE PREVIEW
As usual, the Croatian League starts with Cibona as the team to beat, Zadar as its perennial challenger able to beat anyone, anywhere, while Split and Zagreb could step up and provide the upset if they arrive to the decisive games at the top of their form. These four teams will not take part in the first phase, in which 11 teams compete in a round-robin system. The top 4 teams advance to the second phase along with Cibona, Split, Zagreb and Zadar, back from the Adriatic League. The best four teams will advance to the best-of-five semifinals and the winners, to the best-of-five title series. Cibona has put together an impressing roster with depth and talent at every spot. New arrivals feature Brent Wright, Jerry McCullough, Marton Bader or Marijan Mance while Cibona kept Chris Warren, Davor Kus or Luksa Andric. Zadar kept top players Juby Johnson, Todor Gecevski, Jakov Vladovic or Frano Colak, as well as adding guard Carl English. Zagreb landed Gordan Zadravec and top prospect Hrvoje Kovacevic and kept Dwayne Broyles, Krunoslav Simon and Nikola Garma. Meanwhile, Split brought in a marquee player like Otis Hill and a promising guard in Curtis Stinson. Young yet experienced homegrown players like Hrvoje Peric, Franko Kastropil and Mateo Kedzo round an interesting roster. Cedevita, with Damir Milacic, Mate Milisa or Mario Dundovic, could beat anyone in any given day.
